Because many of them are designed to move water through your system to flush out the toxins causing the illness. Also, they contain diuretic compounds which may have other purposes but contribute to water loss. Finally, people seldom take their meds with "a full 8 oz. glass" of water, and are generally dehydrated all the time.

I would imagine that your body tries to flush out a lot of the drugs in urine...a self protective mechanism...but this is only a guess..
