The sun is an equal opportunity energy source - the sun shines on every country so no country has a monopoly (or near-monopoly) on it and no country can interfere with any other country's access to it - unlike oil, which is vulnerable to politically-driven interruptions and so-called market-driven price 'fluctuations', (read 'manipulations for profit'). This also applies to wind power, altough not all countries experience the same volume of wind.

Solar energy is renewable energy source i.e. it can not exhausted unlike coal, petroleum. It is available easily everywhere. Though initial cost is more for buying its ( solar products) but then it is free of cost in usage as solar energy is free. Also, it is environmental friendly. Doesnot produce any kind of pollution, side effects.

Clean, renewable, and plentiful. At this point not really cost effective compared on pure cost basis to produce a watt. As techonolgy advances, other costs rise and the pulic becomes more concerned about pollution the day will come - some day.
