My significant other has been without a job since October 2007, and so I have been the main provider. For awhile there I thought is was ok for him to be home with the children, and kind of take a break; but now I need some help with the finances. I bring less than $2000 home per month, and am starting to get very frustrated. He is a great person, and he is not there to take advantage of me; he has a great heart, and in his heart he wants to provide for his family but he doesn't feel completly capable. He is 53 and I'm younger. I don't want anyone to cut him down, because he means alot to me. I'm just trying to figure out how you have patience during your hard times.

Show them an old Calvin and Hobbs cartoon. Calvin is sitting in front of a lemonaide stand type desk with a sign saying "A Swift Kick in the Butt $1" Hobbs says, "How's business?" Calvin replies, "Not good." Hobbs observes, "I guess no one wants what you're selling." It will put a smile on their face but they'll get the message.

I usually mind my own business.

If you are asked for help, the two of you can discuss ways to solve it, and find tips on the internet. If you aren't asked, you need to try to find a way to accept what you cannot change.

I like to encourage them ,that they Can do it. I know they can. Keep telling them good things and sometimes, maybe tell them that God will help us along too.
