In Michigan: Goods - No set day, Get to be outside all the time, Meet new people all the time, can go to appointments when needed without having to call into work. (there are more but I can't think of them right now). Bads - YOU pay for all the fuel, You pay the cab owner off top BEFORE You get a dime from your riders, If you don't get any riders you get no pay, You have to bid for the riders when they call the company for rides. (like the goods, there are more but I just can't think of them right now).

My friend is a taxi driver and this is what he tells me Good Points, Choosing your own hours Meeting lots of nice interesting people Tips Being out and about seeing different places (if you do long distance) Being your own boss Bad Points Not having a regular wage where you know exactly how much you are going to get every month Having no jobs and sitting on the rank all day Having to do loads of extra shifts just to make ends meet Not having much of a social life if you end up doing the weekend late shift My friend says the majority of the time the good outweighs the bad, i hope this helps and i havent put you off

Good: listen to audio books and get really educated.

the good is you get to meet a lot of people. you get to help people get from place to place safely. the bad: you have to deal with drunks and rowdy customers. you have to deal with the taxi company. you pay them a lease fee for the car, the car insurance, the dispatches, and training if you are new. the taxi company wants you to believe they are your boss. really you partner with them. you have to pay them the lease fee, so they cant be your boss. They dont pay you anything. Its a trick to make you think they are the boss. Hopefully from meeting so many people you eventually find a better job. perhaps chauffering or security.
