  • Deep discharge means the battery has less than 20% of it's juice left -- just run the batteries until they won't operate the device anymore -- for sure, that's a deep discharge. Most rechargeable batteries can be recharged at least 1000 times or for about 3 years. However, that 1000x includes recharges from a deep discharge, and recharges that just "top up" (such as an always plugged in laptop or iPod). Overcharging a battery will shorten it's life, however, most rechargers these days are smart enough to stop charging when the battery is at 100% charge.
