All I could think of was Minnesota Fats. I'm not really into billiards much.

Walter Lindrum.(Australia) He was so good they had to change the rules of billiards and he still kept winning.

Pool: Willie Mosconi. He was so good 'Minnesota Fats' wouldn't play him. Rudolph Wanderone was known as 'New York Fats' until the movie 'The Hustler' came out. Mosconi still holds the record for most balls pocketed consecutively at 526 in straight pool. That is not the same as 8-ball. Billiards: Jake Schaffer Jr. Willie Hoppe wouldn't play unless Jake was shackled with inconveniences. Willie Mosconi was also pretty skilled in 3-cushion, but not up to Hoppe's level there. Why bother when he had something like 15 world championship titles in 20 years in pool.
