You can find out quit easily. Just follow these simple steps: 1. Get close enough to the animal to where you can reach out and touch it. 2. When you are close enough to touch it, reach out and flick your hand at its tail. 3. Do NOT move your hand away from the animal. 4. Wait for it to sting you, and then back away. 5. If you can still feel your hand, then it is not poisonous, but if you can't feel your hand or finger...well that's what you get for taking my directions. Hope this helps!

If you acually have the bug in question, I say either take it to a local petshop or maybe just find some small animal like a lizard and put it in the cage, if the scorpion's deadly, then it stings, the lizard dies, and you know. If it's not, then the lizard gets a good meal.
