Why not try those tricolored spirals?
-
To hold all of that you should use rotelli.
-
Rotelli or fuselli are good choices, even bow ties and little ears. I like quartering slices of salami and olives, maybe little shrimp, broccoli, roasted red pepper or pimento, artichoke hearts, slices of garlic.
-
Depends on what taste your looking for. I like to use penne, rotini or bowtie in any. Using a balsamic vinegar whisked with a little evoo and sugar is a good base, or start with a good vinegrette and just tweak the flavors. This is especially good with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, onion and bell pepper. Another is using a pkt of ranch seasoning mix and a bottle of hidden valley ranch dressing mixed with bow tie, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, cheddar, green onions and fresh cracked black pepper. Change it up, experiment and enjoy.

Thats how I make mine except I use pepperoni instead of salami and I use Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing.
-
Also McCormick makes a seasoning called "Salad Supreme" that is very good in any vinegar based salad.

Mix it up! Use different shapes, but those that "Hold" the Dressing like elbows, spirals & shells are best. We chunk up Ham & several Cheeses. Don't Blanch Veggies as this will take that "Fresh Crisp" out them. Black & Green Olives, Bell Peppers & Pepperoncini, Broccoli & Cauliflower, Eggs & Shrooms, sometimes a Drained can of "Three Bean Salad" for a bit more Zing! We just kinda "Play" with it, it's Always Good! John

Use Rotini or Fusili, and try "Ken's" Caesar dressing. You can find in most supermarkets.
-
Don't slice the tomatos. They are small enough already, and all that juice will make everything soppy. I like using tri-color rotini. For the cheese, try using pre-shredded "Mexican mix" (jack + cheddar) to not only save time, but make the salad visually interesting. You can also mix in baby carrots for a good color and texture surprise. Finally, instead of using mayonnaise, use Italian salad dressing ('light' if desired) for a flavor kick. Everything else sounds fine. Enjoy!

Artichoke hearts would be a nice addition to your recipe, I think. Use a tri-color pasta like a rotini. I like to use basil in my pasta salad too.
