  • Strange. I've never encountered a Chinese restaurant that does that.
  • You can buy whole grain brown rice, and I don't think that they dye their rice. That's ridiculous.
  • They don't do that around here. It's either just plain white or white rice that's been fried.
  • there is so much salt and sugar in Chinese restaurant food that having brown rice would be not much point. If you want healthy chinese food then cook it yourself!
  • um, Soy sauce is added for flavor. White rice and Brown rice both have no flavor. Just texture. White rice being softer. . In fried rice, if that's what your talking about, the main ingredient is oyster sauce, which makes the rice brown but also adds flavor. .   • so how do they use enough soy sause to change the look but not the taste? soy sause is a very strong flavor and to my understand the flavor is the point.
  • They don't add it to make it look like brown rice. They have no problem using white rice or admitting it's white rice. That is what they typically use. They add it for the flavor and salt, as it's in most fried rice recipes.
