It's one of the first things we grabbed when we were born. I assume a new born is in utter panic on his or her first breath, but soon, the boob will offer the elixir of life, comfort, safety and sustenance. And not much else will be of interest for awhile. Well -- that's the way it's supposed to be -- the invention of the baby bottle ruined everything for a lot of new borns. We may not remember those days, when all we could think was "I want more boob" -- but I'm sure they are indelibly burned in our subconscious mind... imagine how frustrating it would have been that we didn't have the words yet to say, "I want more boob" -- we could only get incredibly cranky if we didn't get it. It's not just guys though that are obsessed with boobs -- many women like reshaping them, and showing them off, either in fashion, at the beach, or in photo's. There's been a lot of arguments about when life begins, but I don't have a doubt about it: it's at the boob. We wouldn't have survived as a species without them.

Hmm maybe its because its a "forbidden fruit". Many women much rather hide their breasts from the oppisite sex because many have been raised to not let the oppisite sex to have any sort of contact with them. Most people are attracted to things they can't have and when you hide it, it just makes them want them more. Not to be preverted but in my opinion. I think much less men would be attracted to them if breasts were always out and about. Eventually they would get bored of them, and move on to some other attraction.

I am going to be given the hardest of times by my male brethren with the following confession: I am a heterosexual male and the size of a woman's breasts doesn't matter to me. (I'll sit quietly while the guys out there yell at your computer screens.) It's not that breasts are some sort of turn-off for me. But very few of the women that I think are beautiful have large breasts. There. I feel better.

I'm amazed no one else has said this! The most likely answer I can think of is that it is a characteristic that is conducive to producing healthy offspring - to be able to provide ample milk for them. And so the males that valued this trait were selected for while those who did not value it more often paired off with women with smaller breasts who produced offspring that didn't get adequate nutrition at infancy and the lines of men who did not value breasts were thus selected against and the trait became more and more prevalent to value them. As funny as the terse answer 'because we don't have any' is, it's more complicated than that. Why are men so attracted to legs and butts then? Big-heinied, curvy women happen to be big-hipped women and are thus often women more equipped to carry a pregnancy to term and deliver without complications.

I think it's inherent we look, we are brought up with nursing on them and it goes from there. You could say the same of any body part though. Any part can be a sexualized, it just so happens that breasts are flaunted in the media, they are foisted on us everywhere we look and that has much to do with it.

In strictly physical terms, I guess breasts are the ultimate symbol of femininity. Men are aroused by that and other body parts. Most men (not all) tend to go for quantity over quality. Women of course know that. How would you explain the increase in breast augmentation surgeries everywhere or if you will the "Wonder Bra"? Before any women out there begin rating me down here keep in mind that I'm being honest and I am speaking in general terms, there are exceptions to every rule.

I don't exactly know 'what' it is - genetic hard wiring maybe? Linked somehow to an assumption that her children will be well fed as babies (be that right or wrong)? I still can't answer that question. The only viable guy answer I can come up with is that they are big(just a preference, but not necessary), soft and kind of squishy. To me it doesn't make a difference whether or not they are real anymore.

I'm guessing it goes back to the nature of the small infant and the comfort of being nursed and held against the bosom. It probably reminds them of that, but those don't really "remember" it. They just get great comfort from it.

I think that guys who haven't been around as much (and spend more time in fantasy than reality) tend to be more into this. Men who have been with a variety of women know that some big boobs - once out of a bra - point to the floor and are covered with stretch marks. I can't speak for all men but for myself, a woman's breasts represent absolute femininity. Yes, I know they have something else too and it "ain't half bad" but breasts are just something you can't miss. It's hard to explain but it's something that just comes from the heart.
