  • Movies filmed at least partly in Reno: "Sister Act". Whoopi's bedroom scenes were filmed upstairs in the store I used to work in downtown. They did that filming at night when the store was closed, and the Lead Supervisor got paid to sit downstairs and let the crew members in and out. The scene when Whoopi ran out of the casino, and a man dressed in cowboy shirt and hat spun around as she ran out, was my friend Kenny. That casino no longer exists. "Blind Fury." The bridge the boy was hiding under was a block away from my apartment. "Kingpin." Filmed at the National Bowling Stadium downtown, and a friend of mine built the floor and bleachers to cover the lanes so they wouldn't get messed up. The stars were seen playing basketball at the local YMCA by friends of mine. "Pink Cadillac." They drove the car into a fake door at the Eldorado, and I used to walk down the side street where they parked both cars just to see if I could catch a glimpse of Clint Eastwood. The same friend who built the "Kingpin" floor lived in Hazen, where the rodeo scene was filmed. Another friend of mine almost ran over Clint Eastwood on his way out of the parking lot after the shoot, but CE just smiled and waved at him. There are others, of course, but I gave them to my son or haven't bought them yet. I love going downtown to watch them being filmed, since I live 3 blocks away from the action. Haven't been any for a few years, though.
