I remember having them as a kid but i dont remember the taste,so it cant be that bad as i think i would remember if it was awful:-)

Yuckkkkkkkkkk My husband loved them .I tried them , well one mouthful once and had to remove them from my mouth. I cannot describe the slime . The thought that eels live on effluence is revolting enough to keep me away from them.
