I could get into situational advantages of certain rifles over others but I'll just go with one of the largest and say the M82

Right now their is the 50.barret that is something else. by far the farthest shooting bigest bore snipe rifle, The M-14 is up there. And the 700series remington .308 have proved themselves

There are many on the market now. It really depends on the job, each job needs a different tool. Long range work now has the .408 Cheytac and the Barrett .416(only in bolt action right now) which both have a better hit probability then the 50 cal. due to it's better trajectory. 50 cal for penetration, especially with some of the specialized military rounds. Shorter range the Lapua round is excellent and the Brits are replacing all their 7.62mm sniper rifles with it. Lugging around a 50cal rifle especially in jungle or desert terrain is not a fun thing. A lighter shorter weapon is fine as long as it is accurate to about 1000+ meters. That is a very hard shot even with scopes and the new little ballistic computers available.

I prefer the PSG1 7.62mm. The M21 SWS is also a good firearm. There is no 'best' firearm. It is really a matter of preference.

WEll it depends on your point of view. The arabs use a Dragunov, because of its fire rate. Yet the best multi shot sniper is an M21 due to its 9 shot rapid fire clip. The barret 50. cal is the strongest and best weapon for damage dealing, but i can fire fast. I would go wtih the M21

There is not best sniper rifle. It is all about your sniper skills.

M200. But it's still a prototype. Tested on 1800m range (92% hit) uses .408 cal rounds. More powerful than .50 cal. Amazing, isn't it. More information on "Discovery".
