I believe they go hand in hand. To me, at least, having life brings me happiness. And anyway, how can you have happiness without life or life without happiness. OK, I can see the latter, but I have been happy pretty much all my life. I'm generally a happy person :)

Life=happiness=life=happiness the two are indistinguishable to me:)
-
Contentment. Happiness is too fleeting. As long as I'm feeling comfortable, I will be fine.
-
Happiness, actually positive emotion. Contentment is not technically happiness but I consider it to be close enough for government work. Satisfaction is also not technically happiness but, again, I consider it close enough for government work. What is life without positive emotion? It is the maintenance of biological function. Without positive emotions, if I take happiness to mean all positive emotion, it would be either completely neutral (if there is no emotion) to torturous (with negative emotions included). If you use my definition of happiness as positive emotion, without happiness the person would not even have any pleasure at a job well done. The person would not take any pleasure from anything. After all, pleasure is a positive emotion itself. What would be the point? It would be simply a wait for the cessation of biological function or time spent praying for death.
