Can anyone recommend a good book on general car maintenance for people with absolutely no car knowledge?

Amazon sells one called "Clueless about Cars" that would be a good starting point.

To be honest, there is no general auto maintenance book, that covers all makes of autombiles. there are speciality books for each make and model. some can be found at auto zone. some can be found on the internet. Todays automobiles are complex, not like the autos of the 60s, 70s, 80s. A closing thought....its much better to let a qualified mechanic do repairs on your sutomobile. electronic ignitions, sensors and onboard computers, requires a college degree to understand their functions.
