  • The Higgs Boson is predicted by the standard model which is our best understanding of particle physics. If we don't find it (and soon as the energy range it should be within is what we are capable of acheiving at LHC) then there is a serious problem with the standard model. There are still huge unification issues even if we do find the Higgs. As far as I am aware it will not help with unifying gravity. SO if we do find it that could be worse still as we have been completely unsuccesful unifying the standard model and general relativity. "God" particle is something of a misnomer, it was (I forget his name) just used in the title of a book and sparked media interest. It helps us understand electro-weak symmetry breaking (if memory serves) but is no help with gravity. I might be wrong on that, I really need to start reading physics papers again, I am getting sloppy ;)
  • there are actually more advanced theories , well beyond the "God" particle. usually, by the time we here these theories they are well over a decade old. trying to prove these theories is the time constraining problem. einstein took over 70 years to be proven right on some of his discounted theories, even by his own mindset. and well after his death.
  • Many questions were asked in the ancient Hindu texts about the nature of Parama Atama (infinite soul, or Almighty) and Atma (soul). In the olden days, Gurus used to put these questions to disciples to test their knowledge. What is the constituent material of Almighty? All created materials are subject to decay and annihilation, Almighty is above the influence of decay and annihilation. He is eternal. Then is Almighty a void? In terms of material characteristics, Almighty is void (Soonya). Can this lead to the logic that Almighty is not there? No. Almighty is there. He is consciousness, the infinite consciousness. The Atma which is a finite piece of Almighty, according to Advaita Vedanta - the personal consciousness. Soul was created in the likeness of the Infinite Soul. Since Atma is only a minute piece of Almighty, is it subjected to annihilation? No. Atma is also eternal.
  • I completly aggree, we are humans. were barley above animals at the moment. we have ALOT of evolution to go before we can even understand what the unification thoery will mean. I think the higgs boson is a good idea, but i doubt we will find it.
