Trying to dye your hair more than two shades lighter or darker than your current colour is very difficult to pull off. The type of dye you need to use will depend on the condition of your hair, your hair type, your current colour (particularly the levels of red pigment) - and it also takesa lot of expertise to know how to apply correctly and how long to leave the dye to develop.
This is why home colourants (other than the wash in/ wash out ones) are a really bad idea. If you want to colour your hair, save some pennies up and visit a professional hairdresser who can mix you a tailor made colour, apply it properly and give you advice on how to care for it.
Never, ever try to dramatically change your colour at home - it's just not worth it.
