It's in the Netherlands. Abel Tasman the Dutch explorer was the first European to sail there, so he named it after the province of Zeeland. The real name of the country though is "AOTEROA", which means, "Land of the long white cloud" This name is getting a revival these days as more and more people embrace the original Maori culture and language that was there long before Europeans arrived.
