When glaciers were at their maximum extent, what was the sea level in the Atlantic Ocean?

    well according to al gore the sea level was thousands of feet higher and its going to get there again in the next year or so. get your snorkel gear.

    according to most scientists the sea level was about 500 ft higher around 10,000 years ago at the end of the last warming cycle.
    thats about a rise of 5 feet per hundred years. hopefully even a blind turtle can move out of the way in that amount of time.

    some alarmists say we are currently raising the sea level at about 20 feet per hundred years now. thats about 2 feet every 10 years. even a handicapped blind snail can still move out of the way.

    There are theories that the continental shelf (off the coasts of continents) was dry land and that the continenal slope was the ocean boundary. There are off shore canyons (in the Atlantic) for each of the major rivers (Hudson), Delaware, Susquehanna/Potomac (Chesapeake Bay). The center of the Chesapeake Bay has a deep channel which was once the riverbed of the Susquehanna River. About 100 to 200 meters.
