My 1992 Ford Aerostar van, bogs or hesitates on acceleration and the check engine lite is on (it is an EEC system). Is there anyway to check the codes without a machine or what could be causing this problem?

There are several sensors that the eec reads that can cause this problem. A code reader is pretty much the only way to determine which is the problem. Most chain type auto parts stores (autozone, checker, etc.) will read your codes for free. My personal guess is either the throttle position sensor, or one or all of the o2 sensors. If this is a v-6 engine, these engines had a head gasket problem around this year, and if you are leaking coolant into the cylinders, the o2 sensors would be fouled. Hope this helps.
