Light is made up of bunch of frequencies. We can separate these frequencies using a prism and you get a rainbow with all the different frequencies of light. All Objects have atoms and in these atoms are electrons. Electrons have the ability to "catch" light. When light hits the electron in this object depending on the frequency of the electron it catches certain frequencies of light. for example a blue object would have the ability to catch all the light frequencies but blue. Since the electrons in the object weren't able to catch the blue frequency blue light is bounced off the object and into our eyes.
