You will likely have a foreign language requirement--at my school you have to pass a foreign language profeciency exam, OR you can take one of 2 options: 4 semesters of any language or 2 semesters of Indo-European, and 2 of a non Indo-European. But you won't be required to take a whole bunch of diffrent languages. Linguistics is the study of language theory, how languages work, the cultural/sociological implications of language, etc. There are a few true polyglotts in my department, but really...most are biligual at best. Personally, I have studied French, Russian and Hebrew... but don't test me on any of them. lol. Just sign up if yr interested. You can always switch majors if you hate it.
