  • Depends on the fish. My nephew has a wonderful huge tank full of living coral and tropical fish, crabs, prawns etc and it is very soothing to watch it. I wouldn't really expect a child to appreciate it as much as an adult would though. My daughter had guppies and she was fasinated by the pretty males and loved watching the females give birth, catching the babies and putting them into a nursery tank so the adults didn't eat them.
  • I have fish in a pond. I am the only one who goes out there, and the few times I tried to interest my little niece, she couldn't understand what I was trying to get her to look at. I think they are a bigger child's hobby.
  • That is so darn funny! You're right, fish should not be considered pets. I think of them more as a home decoration, like those motion pictures of streams or waterfalls, except you have to feed them.
  • My dad had a fishtank when I was a kid... he had kissing fish. The only time I remember being intrigued by it was the day I came home from school and instead of two kissing fish in the tank, there was on REALLY BIG kissing fish. Then I went to pick up the ferret.
  • The more like swimming ornaments.
