What's the difference between being "Spiritual" and being "religious?' Do you consider yourself to be one or the other or both?

I consider it like this: If you're spritual, you have a relationship with God. If you're religious - you "go through the motions", like, in some 'religions'; pray certain prayers, go to church/chapel/temple, live as righteously as you can (following the Bible, etc). That can be whether you actually HAVE a relationship with God or you're just doing what everyone else is doing, which does no good anyway.. You can be spiritual and religious... or just one or the other. That's my opinion.

Spiritual, to me, means to be in tune with the Holy Spirit. Religious has to do with one's lifestyle. Does one go to church? Does one read the Bible (or in my case The Bible and The Book of Mormon?) Does one pray? Does one do good to one's neighbor? I try to do both, but I am not claiming perfection. Let Christ be your example.

Spiritual is open to interpretation,and each is free to forge their own spiritual path.The relationship between the person and the higher source,or diety,is highly personal.Religious is more for the masses and is confined to a certain way of thinking about a diety,and a need to belong to a large group of people that think the same way.I consider myself spiritual and forge my own way,and find it adventurous.Anyway Christians have told me many times I was going directly to hell,and don't get the $200 for passing go,as in Monopoly.

i think for the time being i'm spiritual. i don't have a specific religion yet. my mother is religious. she's catholic and very involved in her religion, but she's spiritual too. going off of what hey-lo said, there can be a one or the other. but i think religious goes for those with an organized religion usually

being religious means you have an organization that you belong to and follow their traditions, etc. being spirtual is an individual thing and how you personally relate to the spiritual world.

In my opinion (and this is only my opinion) religious is for show - like you want people to notice how religious you are. Spiritual is more personal.

Religious..identifying with a particular faith and believing its required dogma in order to be accepted Spiritual..that which goes beyond mind and body and involves the inner intangibles of soul and spirit
