My 4 year-old macaw threw up twice recently. What could be wrong with him?

    Well it could be regurgitating for you. However, I would take your bird to an avian vet ASAP.Throwing up is a serious sign of illness.

    This means he REALLY likes you. wink wink :) Especially if it is a male, which seems to be what you have indicated. I have taken care of two macaws, a cockatoo, an african grey, a quaker parrot, cockatiels and a number of other small parrots. Almost every single one will throw up--it's part of owning a bird. Food is a valuable commodity in the wild, so when birds like each other, they will regurgitate food for the bird they like to eat as a gift--kind of like flowers or candy for a girlfriend. You should feel honored that your bird thinks you worthy of this gift :)
