I joined THEN told my mother. What could she do. Your parents aren't going to be happy with it, but you won't be happy if you don't (I'm basing this on your clear desire to enlist). Ulitimately you are who will make yourself happy. The decision is yours to make and thiers to accept. I would have joined when I was 18 but I did not because my mother didn't wan't me to. I joined 14 years later because I knew it was something I wanted to do in my lifetime. Don't take the decision lightly though, people die in the military. You need to be willing to take that chance.
