  • Guns and crazy don't mix ;)
  • Because people kill other people guns do not. Too many people with too many guns. I love guns, they are a tool. They are fun and cool, but they are dangerous. Just like a car can kill and a gun can kill so can a hammer or screw driver. But when you have a BIG city with people all over the place in each others face, that is not the place for guns. I know, I live in New York City and I would not want it easy to get a gun here that's for sure. If there were more restrictions on them and people had to qualify and go for license to make sure they can operate a weapon like they can a car then I would say yes nor problem. But people are emotional creatures and emotions, booze, drugs and GUNS do not mix.
  • A vain attempt at taking guns out of the hands of criminals.
  • Not knowing the all of the firearms laws I can safely say that the population of california at 30,000,000 with that in mind take a look at how many crimes are committed. There are so many guns comming into the state with gun expositions and the likes that California law makers are trying to in some valiant way trying to take control of the amount of guns that are comming in to the possession of potential criminals. The laws are put into place for this reason these laws only target the law abiding regular people, not hell bent on crime. These are not federal laws for that would conflict with your 2nd ammendment right to bear arms. The scary thing is that it doesn't matter what laws are in place, the bad guys will get the guns regardless, hence I say these laws are not going to stop a bad guy from getting one, they really only effect the leagally puchased gun owners.
  • The real reason: it is easier to take away the tools criminals will use (even if they have legitimate non-criminal uses) than to arrest, prosecute, and convict the criminals who use the tools you are looking to remove.
  • Because the government in California doesn't realize that people break the law. They put the laws in place as an attempt to bring down gun crime, but all it did was take guns out of the hands of citizens and make them easier for the criminals. since the laws were put in place there has been a 1300% increase in violent crimes committed with guns.
  • not sure, but they shouldn't be that way in the future...the supreme court recently upheld the second amendment, and local and state gun laws can now be challenged...
  • In response to "chuck's" answer that California makes tough laws because Federal laws are restricted by the U.S. Constitution... ALL laws have to be constitutional. My God, I can't believe people get through high school and college and don't know that the Constitution (including the 2nd amendment) applies to ALL laws - federal, state and local!!! That's NOT why California is strict. The real answer to that question is... California has strict laws because it's governed by anti-gun Liberals. Plain and simple.
  • Bullshit. The Bill of Rights applies to the whole country. If it didn'tthen Blacks in Mississippi would still be drinking out of the other fountain. Supreme Court ruled Right to Keep and Bear and to for militias is legit. No place in the Constitution does it authorize a standing Army, but it does authorize the citizen militia dumbass. California is full of liberals who think denying a person their right to self-defense is going to make society more civil. They also know times are going to get tough and civil unrest is aroud the corner. Rolling blackouts, brownouts, lack of jobs, food and you'll see, water will all come to a head in the near future. Unarmed peasants are easily put under the heel. California is a sh!thole and on the brink. That is why they want the guns in their hands only. Diane Frankenstien is anti-gun, votes and writes anti-gun laws in. But she carries a concealed weapon. Socialist police states only want the ruling class and their loyal goons armed. Wake up, get educated and stop rationalizing the politicians treason and infringements on your rights.
  • Strict government?
  • Guns and avocados don't mix, my friend.
  • The Constitution is the law of the land and state laws cannot deny a person of their liberty under it. The 14th amendment is a trash amendment not really understood and used to manipulate and push any agenda. The Supreme Court ruled Right to Keep and Bear means just that. Any state or city standing in the way of the bill of rights has no right to exist, and cannot unless the sheep let them. DC gun ban was determined illegal recently. The question though is why California has tough gun laws. The fact no one wants to hear is simple, gang banger blacks and drug dealing Chicanos and a few insane white boys who like to have standoffs with the law. Plus Cali knows, it won't be long before the place implodes.
  • why are gun laws so strict in our beautiful state of california? because it's easier to make laws to take away the resources/tools of offenders than it is to actually understand and remedy why someone would create such an offense. it just goes back to the age old conundrum... it's alot easier to go after the outcome/result rather than fix the cause... i mean, look at it this way... when was the last time you heard of a law that actually required someone to do something good, versus prohibiting someone from doing something negative? and if you have heard of laws like that, how many and when?
  • Because Californians are more likely than other citizens to pop a cap in someone's a__!
  • It's the wild west out there; gotta keep the cowboys under control.
