In the Billy Joel song "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant", what is the "song about New Orleans" played on the jukebox?

    It was probably "The Battle for New Orleans" by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which was a big hit for them in 1974. In Joel's song, "Brenda and Eddie were still goin' steady in the summer of '75." This presumes that the song that was playing on the jukebox earlier was released before 1975. I haven't found a definitive answer but that's as close as I can come.
