i've met homeless men before - my dad was very into charity when i was a kid and he gave them money and would talk to them. they make me curious to know how they got there, make me feel sorry for them because it's not always their fault; it certainly wasn't for the many that i met. it makes me wonder what the hell i can do someday to help them out aside from shelters
-
Only when their signs are made of 12 packs of beer.
-
they don't make me angry, I just feel bad. that is all, but there are some "fake" homeless people that rips you off for money
-
It makes me feel sad. Most homeless are mentally ill and just can't seem to get the help they need.
-
They make me feel sad.

The ones around the city where i live make me angry! They ask for money and then spend it on drugs or alcohol. Some homeless people play music, or draw, or dress strangely and be human statues, they deserve the money, they are at least doing something to deserve it. I feel sorry for the homeless who where put there by someone else, but when it comes to drug addicts or alcoholics i have no sympathy. Plus, there are plenty of jobs out there nowadays, there is a shortage of workers everywhere!

I think it's a national tragedy that there isn't treatment for addicts and the mentally ill people on the streets. When the state mental hospitals closed, the idea behind it was that they would benefit from community based care, but no replacement was ever put in place. As for those homeless due to unemployment, again, if every opening in this entire country was filled tomorrow, there would still be thousands left out.

i feel ashamed that we supposedly live in a 'civilized' society and have people living below poverty level. it deeply saddens me.
-
Neither. It makes me sad. We live in a gluttonous society, and some can afford nothing. Many are mentally ill and are not seeking treatment, and others have just plain fallen into hardship. Either way, it pulls at my heart strings.
-
It makes me sad that the country I live is so wealthy yet there are so many poor and homeless people.
-
I would have to say ashamed more than anything. In a country as wealthy as ours its incredible that the problem even exists. I am amazed at the amount of $$ sent out of this country to help "struggling nations", when there are an unbelievable amount "struggling people" right here at home..
-
Neither. I am saddened by some and confused by others.
-
Niether. They actually bring no emotion to me based on their residential status.
-
Neither. I've a vague feeling about this, but how to express it? I dunno: socially responsible?
-
They make me want to kick some politician ass, so I'm going to go with angry.
-
I feel sorry for them even if they became homeless by making stupid or bad choices. no one should have to suffer through cold nights without housing, no matter what mistakes they have made in the past.
-
It pisses me off because they should go get a job. I dont feel bad for them because it's there fault. they should work at McDonalds or something.
-
Neither it makes me sad, to think about how people actually have to live on the streets, and it makes me more apperciative of everything I have, makes me realize about how fast everything can be taken away from you and how many people take life for granted
