  • He was Johns Quincy Adams, who served as president for two terms of office, streching from 1825 to 1829. His vice president was famed N. Carolinia senator John C. Calhoun. Under the reigns of Washington and his father, Johns Adams, he was appointed in succesion to be the minister to the Netherlands, Portugal, and Prussia. He later also served as the U.S. minster to Russia, the Court of St.James located in Great Britian, and as Secretary of State under James Monroe. Also in these travels abroad he met his wife, Louisa Catherine Johnson. He was involved in many events that shaped United States' history such as helping negotiate the Treaty of Ghent that ended the War of 1812, Adams-Onis Treaty, which set difinate borders to the western U.S. and for the aquisition of Florida, and he helped draft and write the Monroe Doctrine.
