Not necessarily. Such only happens where there is no effective law enforcement. In a culture like the US, laws are enacted and enforced (enough) to prevent the breakdown of society.

Is anarchy a bad thing? It is entirely subjective. I don't think anarchy will be the next stage because there will always be pople who want power and to be in charge... but some might say we are already in chaos (but not anarchy in the political sense)

Very doubtful. The US has always had the "right to bare arms" and we seem be enact more and more laws to regulate our society all the time as opposed to anarchy and the absence of law and order. Many societies which have taken all the "arms" out of the hands of the citizens have become dictatorships, etc. I'm referring to hunting, sport and target practice. Most people think only of hand guns when they talk about "right to bare arms".

History will tell us that those who do not possess firearms are more likely to experience death, chaos and mayhem....anarchy.

Bearing firearms and using them is in it's own way leads to self justice and also possible bad decisions. The law is what protects us and firearms could lead to anarchy if too many use this freedom to bear firearms to the extreme.

I am probably not qualified to answer this question because I have never lived in a country where private ownership of firearms for self-defence is the norm. It appears to me from many of the answers I have read to this and other Answerbag questions on the subject of guns that, in the USA, there is an almost inbred desire to own weapons and an almost religious belief in the Second (?) Amendment. So it would be futile to argue that private ownership of guns is wrong - it is obviously right and proper within US culture. The danger I see is that many people give the impression that they would welcome the opportunity to shoot and kill an intruder or attacker. This leads me to suspect that the self-justice part of your question is extremely valid, although anarchy is highly unlikely - most Americans seem to be too closely allied to one or other of the major political parties for that to be likely.

For over 150 years the town I live in has had a conceal/carry law. Many take advantage of this law, yet no anarchy nor self-justice has taken place by the masses. Sure, an isolated incident here or there, but had nothing to do with the firearm. A kitchen knife, Clorox Cleanser, or even a high window can be used to kill just as easily.

guns don't kill the person pulling the trigger does if someone was in your home with the intent to bring bodly hard would you not want a gun to protect yourself or your children you know i bet the people trying to take our guns have one of the're own !
-
Ok, so we have to give them up. Who do you think is NOT going to give them up? Was 95% of the murderers allowed to have them in the first place?
-
