We all come from everywhere in the world and I myself am not great at spelling , though I get treated with respect , and I'm so thankful for Spell-check - NO one is Perfect
-
Does it matter??? As long as you get the idea of what they're saying so what? Also it's AB etiquette not to critisize peoples spelling or gramma!
-
I think that a lot of people are lazy, and don't care to get the keyboard down in their memory, and don't care to think or even use grammar, other than myself. Also, public schools don't help either!
-
I think it is because we try to type as fast as we think, or we think that as long as the message gets across then typos and grammatical errors are forgiveable. Quite like sending text messages... we abbreviate and shorten words and as long as the message gets across then you feel your goal has been met.

thats becus thei cant bee bothred to find tha rite speling :)... kinda like me :)
-
Because internet etiquette has slowly devolved into a shapeless blob of misspellings, grammatical errors, lack of punctuation, and lack of capitalization.
-
Most educated people have better things to do than sit on AB and worry about filling their bags with points. They have a busy enough life without wasting it on the computer answering mostly mundane questions.
-
They are not properly educated and they are inconsiderate.

AB is worldwide, and for quite a large number, English is NOT their first language. AB has people of all ages from at least 12 up. (Maybe younger... I've answered a question from a purported 12yo, before.) This, in itself, should explain "poor" vocabulary and spelling. Yes, there are those that should know better, but there are plenty of people who are poor spellers, and some who have never really had to write anything before. (AND, there are poor typists.) I believe AB is also available on cell phones and and other small, portable communications devices. Many of those "text" questions we get may be from there, where the longer the question, the more they have to pay, hence they use the abbreviations. If you can't read it, don't worry about it, someone who can will answer it. ;-)

They may have thought that skipping school and smoking pot was more important to do instead of sitting down at a desk and learning from the teacher. Just my guess

Ughhhhh, not this question again. I can't count how may times I have seen this phrased in different ways. Yes, I have noticed it. I don't knwo every single ABer, so I can only venture to guess why that is. Laziness, lack of education, not good at English (as a subject or language), et cetera.
-
You will have that! Doesn't bother me as long as i know what you are talking about. If I don't then I will not answer.
-
it's probably a mix of laziness, [like wen i type sumtimes i dnt put all the letters in cuz u kno wat i mean] and other times maybe people don't speak english well - it is a world wide web and there is the case that education made a difference - though just because somebody has a college degree it doesn't mean they are good at grammar and spelling. there are a number of factors i'm sure
-
It shouldn't really matter if you are asking a question then take the answer you get and do not complain about it wow be nice it might fill good

A lot of people have poor vocabulary and writing skills, period, not just on AB. Some people are just not linguistically inclined. It doesn't mean they're unintelligent. I am an English/grammar teacher, and I have some truly brilliant students who struggle with these types of skills. Add to it the fact that this is the internet, and you're even more likely to see mistakes in this area. I don't enjoy seeing errors, but I don't judge a person by them. I would hate for someone to judge my intelligence based purely on my knowledge in one area. In this format, I think that getting the point across should be the primary goal. However, it would be nice if people had the common courtesy to at least spell check their submissions so that when things are searched for they can be easily found.

Because society has degenerated in so many ways in the past 25 years or so and things such as spelling, pronunciation and caring about how you present yourself to others has been relegated to the dustbin by drugged-up 1970's-radical thinking, hippie dunkheads, who now run all major aspects of western civilizations, especially public services and education. Society has degenerated in part because the 'radical" thinking of the 1970's promoted the idea that everyone is a winner, no child should feel inept or wrong or unable to do this or that, no matter whether they had the skill or aptitude or not and for those who did not, they were not given "extra lessons" or extra attention because it was no longer deemed that shortcomings in pupils were a problem. These idiots, and there are a lot of them, had no idea that they would be forcing down the standards of so many things in our society by their baseless and ill-thought out notions and so here we are, in 2008, with so many examples of the results of that stupid & asinine "radical thinking", of which poor use of language and the acceptance of this crime in the world, is but one manifestation.

They are from non-english speaking backgrounds or they can't spell or there are people sending text messages and need to write in a certain way. Or are most likely lazy.

Failed educational systems. It is absolutely shocking! I wonder why they aren't embarrassed.
