When there is no one left to dispute my word.

I don't think you can ever know that. At some point you just have to take a risk.

When you keep your self open to the evidence instead of what you would like to believe, or what others would like to convince you of.

I think that even in spite of our best efforts, we already have a judgement based on whatever initial information is given to us. What makes a judgement a fair judgement is when a person is able to see both sides and empathize with both situations.
