How would you respond if someone said they loved you and you didnt love them back? and if you weren't sure if you loved them or not?

If I didn't love that person, I would simply smile and say, "Thank you" and try to change the subject. If I wasn't sure, I would reply the same way, so that I didn't give false hope. Hearts are not emotional playgrounds. "I love you, too" - four words you must mean sincerely.

...I guess if you love everyone equally, this wouldn't be a challenge... ...what's curious to me is the apparently extra meaning the misuse of the word seems to carry with it...; it seems that it is even a weapon for some...example: if you love me, you'll do this...

I have been in that situation before. I have learned through experience to just be truthful and let him or her know your feelings. Even if you have to be firm about it.
