I know I ma not a man but, respect and honouring a person are things you can show them by your actions. Although, I do tell my partner how much I appreciate him and the things about him that I admire. Saying I love you SHOULD include I respect you but often it doesn't seem to.

I've told my husband that I respect him(and love him)many times.I do think that love and respect are two different things.

A man says he respects/honors a female by his actions, how her treats her & the whole family unit/friends too. Not just her side of the family, but his too; the way he handles himself day to day & under pressure. I love you is a form of respect, but mainly I think its geared for how a man might feel about a female. For a female to hear it; it can be a very powerful word...the emotions/feelings it envokes. For a guy, I think it might be honest or just a quick way to get a female in the sack.

My wife respects me and I respect her. We have different interests and different skills and we understand that we are two different people. We honor that fact. Saying "I love you" has many connotations. It is not always the same as respect.

I love him, I'm proud of him, and I tell him often. I respect him more than anyone else I know, and that is based on who he is and how he lives his life, not simply becasue he is my husband. We're both very loving, respectful, and kind to eachother.

Respect isnt a word we go around repeating. Its actions. You respect your partner by showing them not by telling them.

I would rather my actions say that than my words.
