get larger bird feeders and encourage magpies and rooks.. they wont take any crap from cats, and once the cat learns that it leaves the field clear for the smaller birds as well

claymore mines in the area surrounding the feeders should keep the cats away.

moth balls...smells like amonia. cats hate them. just put a few around the base. or near the tree.

Pellet gun. Low velocity, so it doesn't actually hurt them. You just want to startle the living crap out of them. They will come back a couple more times before they get too skittish to come back around it. Try to nail them in the butt. They have a decent bit of meat there to make sure your shot doesn't bruise bone.
