Help answer this question below.

Can't download new music on my ipod nano (2nd gen). Long story short - new computer, no access to old one that my ipod was originally set up on -- how do I fix so I can get new music downloaded. Have tried to re-auth but to no avail.

if u are usong windows, then find the folder 'ipod_control' (it may be hidden if you need to have help finding thus post a com) then add these files to your itunes library and consolidate your library (this way is good as you don't get the retarded file names your iPod likes to name things

    here's a tutorial i wrote a long time ago

I'm not clear on what you're trying to do. Are you trying to put music onto the Nano or get music off of it? You also don't say whether you're using Mac or Windows.

By re-auth, I assume you mean iTunes. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes?

Without more information all I can say is that I had a nano that I had never connected to my current computer and was able to access the music on it using Winamp. I was able to copy music from it to my hard drive and I believe I was also able to put music on it from my hard drive. But the device was already enabled for disk use. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Have you tried restoring the ipod? Wiping it clean and starting fresh is a last resort, but sometimes you have no choice.

The only suggestion that I have is to find a different MP3 player and to try to get those songs off a CD or to find another source.
