  • All three were good, but while Gradishar had his moment in Denver, and Reynolds played above his athletic ability, Lambert was the glue that held that Steel Curtain together so he gets my vote.
  • Just from my knowledge, I would have to go with Lambert! I'd have any or all on my team, tho'!
  • IIRC Gradishar was as good as Lambert in stopping the head-on power run, perhaps as good in lateral pursuit, but wasn't as good against the pass. He was as good as Reynolds against the pass and at least as good in lateral pursuit but not as good against the head-on run. Reynolds was better than Lambert against the head-on run but not as good against the pass or in lateral pursuit. I say Lambert not only for the above, but also for the ferocity (re: throwing Cliff Harris to the ground in SB X) with which he embodied and unified the Steel Curtain D.
