Because of concided attitudes like yours. - People are not ugly, their attitudes only make them appear unattractive. If society shuned you as ugly, how would you feel?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! We are genetically programmed to choose a partner who is healthy so good skin, clear eyes, no deformities etc became desirable qualities in a mate. Although this is less important in modern time it is still something we instinctively do.

I don't know, but here is my experience: I was a cute kid but then I've become ugly, because I got fat and I don't care how I look. Actually I don't feel ugly but I know I am compared to what the majority of people think. I feel somewhat responsible for my ugliness and sometimes I think it's a pity but I don't really care.

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Just look at the dogs some people own, butt ugly to some people, but beautiful to their owners. And, if everyone were "beautiful" there would still be levels of beautiful....and the less beautiful would then be considered "ugly" anyhow. I know some very beautiful people, but they have been tucked, sucked, and basically rebuilt..........I always laugh at the bimbos who have obvious breast implants trying to say "they are real and they are magnificent". And, inner beauty lasts a lifetime, physical beauty fades with age.

People are not ugly... That is a rediculous and ignorant word to describe a simple lack of symmetry to the human facial features. Those who are naturally closest to the golden mean are considered properly porportioned and those who differ from the formula too much... are called "Ugly" when they are simply not as symmetrical as others. Attractive people feel that they are better than and usually have an escalated sense of entitlement. Attractive people invented the word ugly to ameliorate themselves and make themselves even better because it is the natural order of things. Basically... we are all just animals. Fighting and vying for the very best we can do genetically without even knowing why on a conscious level.

Genetics, bad luck, not caring (or not being able to care) about Your health, body shape and appearance enough. There are also some personality traits that make one behave in a way that makes You ugly, literally. Like some personalities make You have a different way of moving Your body, doing different facial expressions, having a different voice and all these are signaling something about a person. . In general it's about not doing things that show You as a good potential partner and/or parent. Or the things that seem like they show them. . It might also be purely subjective, because a person might at some point in their life require a partner that has some special traits, although they may be viewed as negative by others. . People can also be mislead, both emotionally (someone pretending to be who He/She isn't) and purely on a biological level (make up, plastic surgery, etc.). . It's very complicated really.

Its just in there genes people may be ugly but be big hearted people.

Not everyone finds appearance important, nor should they have to.

They don't understand how to become prettier, think it's impossible, think it's too difficult or maybe just don't care, not understanding why would they want to be. They might also not be very skilled in it and even though they are trying they fail. It might also be a way of rebellion against people who judge You based on appearance. Yet other people might want to be ugly, for many reasons. Like I read many people after sexual abuse try to be ugly not to draw attention. Some might have a low self-esteem and feel like they are afraid they would become the center of attention and they aren't comfortable with that feeling. Or they might think they don't deserve to be pretty for some psychological reasons, which might be emotional abuse. Yet others might feel if they were pretty then people would be too willing to give them privileges and they think it's unfair to use beauty for any gain, so they would feel BAD. They might also have known many people who were assholes and don't want to be pretty because they fear they might become assholes too, or maybe they just don't want to have any similarities with these people. Another reasons is people have some habits that destroy their health and by this their appearance, but they don't realize this thing affects their attractiveness. Or maybe they are addicted and they don't want to or are not able to quit. Etc.

The whole culture is too concentrated on looks and appearances to the point that few people can actually think much beyond it. Good looks are so important that some smart people use them to fox you out of everything. Best to take care of the head first and the hair second.

Maybe they are deep enough to be able to look past appearances; and to not place all their efforts on looking attractive to other people who are too shallow to actually appreciate them for who they really are. Good on them!

Let's see...I don't like fat people, so they have GOT to go. I don't like people with blond hair, they're next. Oh, I almost forgot about anybody with an accent or who doesn't speak English. Obviously they speak ugly words so they're up for elimination. Are you getting all this? The list is getting a little long so you better get cracking. Next are people with glasses, or braces, or scars of ANY kind; then we'll move on to people who are too skinny and girls with small boobs and guys with hair on their asses and black people and people with long hair and... Whew. I need to lay down. Once you've killed off all of the ugly people above we'll start getting picky. Wait. I just thought of something. Is stupidity and tactlessness a form of ugliness?
