  • My musical tastes are so eclectic that I do not know if I can answer the question. I listen to everything from Goth to Country to Metal to Zydeco to Classic Rock... to... The only thing that could be considered cultural is that a large chunk of my listening is to Rromani music, which nobody knows about.
  • Any open minded person that enjoys music will sooner or later open up and makes his/her own discoveries. Any refinement in music taste will lead to a great diversity of interesting music. I listen to all kinds of music, from Classical to various world styles and all kinds of Pop music. There are only very few genres that I would reject on the whole - usually such that are strongly dominated by simplistic musical structures and produced by an industry in order to entertain at the lowest possible level whilst gaining the highest possible profit. The appreciation of music, to me, is related to the learning of languages. No one should be content with just one.
  • I am with the others who have answered thus far... I don't limit myself to any certain style of music. I grew up in a family that owned a record store, and was exposed to so many kinds of music. I think people do tend to listen to the music that is popular where they live, or listen to the music that their parents' played while they were growing up. That's all well and good. To me, however, there is so much amazing music out there that I would never limit myself.
  • Well, it'S more another reason than their backgound, it usually are their tastes. My mother HATES Jpanese, but I can't stop listening it. Everyone in my family HATES the music I like, and it's urely because of tastes...
  • I was influenced by my older brother. I have been pretty open minded since I was about 17. My friends interests also have had an influence on me. I'm not sure how young people are influenced now. Could be video games or family members.
  • i listen to whatever makes my head nod and what actually has meaning to it. my main music is metal and i'm a black chick(from the south). as far as background is concerned--- i think ppl are so scared of what their so called friends would think and then it may possibly be that they're extremely close-minded. if you like jazz, classical, bluegrass, whatever and it makes feel good while listening to it---- continue to do so. screw what anyone else thinks. live your life as you see fit.
