Why not take all cars away because some drunk people go out and drive around and kill an entire family

Personally, I don't think people, other than the police, should be allowed to have weapons. There are too many irresponsible people out there, not to mention all the nuts and kids who think guns are toys. Just think of the drastic drop in gun-related crimes if people were not given the right to own weapons. I mean it's not rocket science to know that a lot of accidental killings and murders are caused by the use of guns. Sure, they say it's the user, not the gun, that causes crime, but take away the gun and you will have zero gun-related crime, period!! Duh!!

It's not the people with license for guns that are killing...Its the people with illegal firearms

Would you feel safer if only criminals had guns?

I live in the UK and I can't understand why it's so easy to buy a gun in the USA. Surely with all the gun crime there, the government would at least put some tougher restrictions on it.

Because it's not the weapon that's the problem. It's the lack of knowledge and respect for the weapon and human life. Children really, truly don't understand for 1, what death truly is until it's put front and center in front of them and 2, what it feels like to take another life. Often times they don't think that it could/would happen to them. If we teach kids/people about guns and what the proper procedures are, it reduces the "coolness" (come look at my dad's gun!), and they're more likely to be safe with them. Give them education, instead of taking it away completely. We all know that nothing is truly unattainable here. Education rather than prohibition.

Maybe they should start looking at the drugs that the doctors have every kid on. It seems that most are on Meds , and that some of the side effects of these drugs cause these problems

Wake up it's a new age..they're not getting from their parents their getting from their peers..there is a lot of gang activity that's where they're getting them. Recruits

Why should anyone ask for a license to carry their own property with them? You asked *Why not prevent it?* Explain how you intend to do that. I wonder how the first caveman fared when he thought he could sneak up on another caveman and grab his club. I bet the Neanderthal with the bright idea of disarming his neighbor did not use his pea sized brain to think it through enough to realize he would start a war, and die for his trouble. Smack! You ain't taking my club away! No wonder they went the way of the Dodo bird. So much for the thinking process of Neanderthals and liberals.

It seems to me it's mostly the people who don't have guns who moan the most when a shooting takes place. The child issue is almost a non-starter. When researching the numbers on an earlier question, it turned out that there was a shooting with a shooter under 17 on school grounds about every year and a half in the US. And in the majority of those, the shooter was mentally ill. Legal guns are not a big problem. The big problem is criminals with illegal weapons. In Canada, they have wasted a huge amount of money registering guns and gun owners. Believe it or not, there are still gun crimes. Of course it turns out that the crimes were being committed by unregistered owners using unregistered weapons. The people they needed to worry about were the people who were and are ignoring the laws of the land. DUH!!

may i point out that the people with guns that 'moan' didnt comit the crime so why should their gun be taken away. there is so much sin in this world that we need protection to survive and if they take our guns away more kills will happen. this will not solve anything, murders can kill people with all sorts of things, if you ask me its not the gun thats the problem its the people we let weld it! if the law wouldnt be so unfair to the honest man maybe we could catch some of these people.
