  • A person with diabetes can eat anything that any other person can eat. The issue with the diabetic is that he or she must account for the rise in blood sugar after consuming any foodstuff. With controlled blood glucose (whether by insulin, oral meds, diet or exercise) there may be some restrictions on the *amount* of an item that a diabetic should eat. But not on the type of food. It is, for example, a common misconception that a person with diabetes *cannot* have sugar. That's bull. ;) I have sugar in my tea quite often. I just make sure that that 4 grams of carbohydrate per teaspoon is figured into the allotment of carbs I can consume in a day without experiencing blood sugar issues. Proper diabetic diet can be a complex issue and is highly individualistic.
