  • When I watched this through Digg, I thought that was rather repulsive, especially given the fact that I am leaving for Japan on the 24th and will be in a hotel for a few days! They don't have the same disgusting sanitation practices over there, do they??? PLEASE answer the question here: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/628663 In case the embedded video won't show, this is the video link: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1329217643/bctid1329232712
  • Yeah, that was gross! I have worked at the holiday Inn, The Peidmont Inn and Khandahar ski lodge. We would have gotten fired on the spot for much less! If I were the management and they wanted an interview, I would have done it to show I gave a damn .. and fired everyone!
  • WOW (that's all I can say)
  • That was beyond disgusting, I never drink out of hotel glasses though...EVER its a trait from childhood I alwyas bring my own cup!
  • Actually I am not surprised for hotel chains do not give a damn about your health a we are paying up to hundreds of dollars a night to stay in these holes.I think I will be bringing classes and filtered water the next time I go to a hotel. So much for the health board protecting the public from this practice. What are they paid to do ,sit in the office?
  • I am not surprised at all, sadly, however it is indeed disgusting. The specialist in the video, according to my training, is very correct.
  • That video is indeed disgusting! At the hotel/casino where I work I can say it is not as disgusting as the one shown. Our housekeeping staff are written up if there is any kind of complaint in the room. One write up is all they will receive any further negligence of their duty will be grounds for immediate termination. Also if you are dissatisfied w/ the cleanliness of a room they will put you in a different room or give a reduction of rate. This could include anywhere from a 10-50% dicount or even a free room if you are persistant.I will say on the part of the maids~they are grossly underpayed to do the job that they are doing. They have to clean any where from 15 to twenty rooms. Most rooms have double occupancy. That equals to about 30 to 40 beds they have to strip and remake. They have to clean 15 to 20 tiolets, tubs, showers and floors. They have to dust, vaccuum and polish all furniture and any other misc. items in the room. They are paid minimum wage and very rarely receive tips.I'm not saying this is an excuse it just might give others a little perspective and maybe a little more understanding.
  • That's really something, I'll be looking for the plastic cups.
  • Think about it. When you walk down a hallway of a hotel during the day when the maids are there, you will see Housekeeping carts, but no carts full of glasses. They may have a few new glasses on the cart but those are for missing or broken glasses. You can assume that your glasses aren't clean. Call room service and ask for replacement glasses and be clear that you don't want glasses from the housekeeping department. Those one's do go through a dishwasher.
