  • Honestly I would probably head for my nearest Cabala's or nature store to find survival gear. Then I would go to the grocery store and barter or steal as much can food and stuff as I could get and then I would relax.
  • Find a new career, I'm guessing there won't be much demand for IT guys if the computers don't work in an electricy-free world.
  • I would go back to what I was doing before I got involved with this AB thing. I used to spend all my time making needlepoint and quilt gifts for charity, by hand. I also made hand sewn costumes. The first thing? I would get a lot more vegetable seeds than I already have and make my garden much bigger. For the future I would work with the people in my neighborhood and upstream to make sure we continue to have an adequate source of water.
  • Get a generator and all the survival gear I could find.
  • I would immediately load up with as much gas as I could, telling my brother and his wife to do the same. After a quick drive down to Charleston to pick up my girlfriend, we would all meet up at my mom's house in the northern part of the state. From there, my grandfather owns 60 acres of land in the mountains outside of the city. We would most likely load up with as many supplies as we could and go there to hold out. Cities probably wouldn't be fun places to be after a week or so.
  • Eat the last of the ice cream while my husband tells me what his survival plan is. He is good at that stuff. I mean he already owns all that back to the basics stuff.
  • I would cry for a while. then I would try to buy candles etc. My plans for the future would be to stay calm until I figured it out.
  • I go out and start up my generator.
  • I actually work in the electricity company as a draftsman/technical engineer, and I can tell you, that would almost never ever happen, due to the protocols we have in place in case of a failure. The likelihood is less than a 2.5% chance at best, becuase we always have backup stations we can switch over to replace stations that go offline when they shut down. Having said that, hypothetically, I would first worry about the food in the house, and ways of keeping it. Then I'd look for a diesel generator. Then I'd go out while everything was in martial law, and stock up. And having a shotgun handy to deal with looters would help.
  • I have a small crank generator and a large portable solar panel ... both put out 12 volts and are great for camping ... It's not much power, but at least I will have some electricity.
  • WooHoo, now I can hear the birds...seriously.Great question.
