  • Sure. Hey, I'm a good swimmer no matter what the temperature of the water is, for the most part.
  • No and no. I prefer warm waters.
  • Able to yes..comfortable..not really..thats a bit chilly..lol
  • yeh, i prefer cold water :) and especially if there's a shark after me, then i'll swim no matter what!! :)
  • I can stand pretty cold, and have swam once when ice was still receding from the shore about 40 feet away.I prefer warm waters though.
  • Yesterday I took part in an ice floe race, water temp 2 degrees C. 25 minutes in. We were actually a little warm up until the end. ( Pushing a 'berg 20 X20 and weighing in at around 10,000 pounds will do that to you) Scroll down a bit here:http://www.underwatercouncil.com/?action=cms&cmspage=events-ouc Below is a pic I took of my buddy getting hauled out as last diver still in at the finish line. (If it shows up here or not) Image posting seems to be an issue lately.
  • long ago, it use to be a big thing to "swim the english channel", which the water is so cold that swimmers would wipe thier entire bodies with animal fat (lard)to keep the cold water to be in direct contact with thier skin, that was before wet or dry suites were invented...
  • I can't even have a cold shower let alone swim in extremely cold water. It's just too uncomfortable for me. I can't stand the cold anything, I'm more of a warm person.
  • I could but I would not enjoy it.
  • I'd enjoy it. 60F is not really cold. Actually quite warm for the San Francisco Bay. 60 C is very hot. Try 40 F/5 C, or even 35 F, just slightly above freshwater freezing. If the water is salty, the temperature can even drop into the 20's Fahrenheit, below zero Celsius, without freezing.
