There is a possibility that mermaid or similar creatures were actually once thought to inhabit the ancient seas. Posiedon was said to have a few in his ranks. Other legends refer to fish type people as "The foam of the sea". Type in "Oannes" or "Dagon" into Google and look at their descriptions.

No one knows for sure. The theory is, that the legend of Mermaids came from sightings of sea cows or manatees. Most legends have a plausible origin, that was twisted because it was carried on by word of mouth and changed a little every time it was told, until it was a big mythical story.

i have ive wrote about it everywere i have been studeing them for years i thought my luke was down antill one night at the beach i was serching the sand and the sea,when there was a naked lady standing direcly in front of me a few yards away i turned around for 2 secs and she was gone then i looked in the water and i saw a shape of a mermaid then a tail fliker up at me.No ones ever belived me but i have always known this is not a myth.

yes, one i saw yesterday, in a pond next to my neighbors house. it was pretty weird though but hey, wat to say, i was about to take a pic using my K800i and it just swallowed my phone too. we battled for hours and oh man,luckily i saved my balls from its Big huge tails! so, my advice, u ever encounter one, just Run, Run Awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.....................
