Anime/manga style drawing looks easy but getting it right is HARD. I'm teaching myself to draw anime better, and I found tracing to be a good starter. Tracing helps you to see what you're trying to draw and with practice, you'll be able to just look at a picture and mirror it onto your own paper without having to trace. It's helped me with my art, so I hope it helps you too. (Tracing to improve art skills works with any style of art, such as anime/manga, realism, cartoon, etc.)

I don't really trace. When i got started i just put a pic beside my note pad and started copying the position and details. over time i fix stuff up and added my own details.
