If you see the word "dove" alone and out of context, do you say it as "duv" or "doav"?

    I wasn't going to dive into this one without any thought, then I realised that I'd already read it as, duv.
    Personally I don't like 'em. The noise they make annoys me.

    I say it like the bird - that's the only pronunciation we have in English. The second pronunciation is unique to the USA - in Britain we would say dived.
