I will tell you what I normally do, just before a performance. breathe deeply and just imagine everyone watching you happily with your eyes closed even before you are back stage, and you are performing your best. Then let go of that thought.put your head up and bring a smile to your face and off you go. It works for me all the time. I guess it depends on what you do as well. because mine is to do with dance and mostly solo, I had to work out my own trick to calm down. most of the time seeing people's faces lighting up as I perform, I forget nervousness and I do much better than I anticipated initially.
Just think about everyone clapping for you.
All the smiles you will get from people, appreciating your dance.
The fact it will be over in a few minutes.
You will look great on stage.
The videos will make great presents.
Nobody can notice minor mistakes, just carry on and smile.
ENJOY YOURSELF! THIS IS FOR YOUR PERSONAL GAIN, NOT FOR CRITISM!
;)

I followed this, and now I don't have a problem with stage fright.
Think about what you are doing/creating, not about
what anyone else is thinking or doing.
My husband's a vocalist/guitarist for a band. I've been stage acting most of my life. We both deal with it differently.
I tend to get it all out of my system ahead of time: anyone that has acted with me will tell you - I'm a total basket case during rehearsals. Before and after practice I freak out, criticise myself, work my arse off to get everything ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, then get mad at myself because it's not right... so that by opening night, there's nothing left to abuse myself over - I can just get up there and do it.
My husband... takes a valium.
Whatever works, right? ^_^
Fiirst you have to perform in front of people you know or are comfortable with, then if that doesnt work you kan try to meet yur audience or something, or you can like not look at the audience look over their heads( they'll never know) XD Good Luck
You never get over stage fright, it is just something you have to learn to live with.
Dame Judi Dench is still sick every night before going on stage.
My mom always told me that "butterflies in your stomach meant you were going to do great"! I have always embraced that feeling. Just do your thing!!!
Well usually you can't see the audience, so dance just for yourself.
But remember most performers go through this.
One strategy is fake it till you make it. If everyone gave up because they didn't think they were qualified then no one would be great.
Remember you're the worst critic of you. Performing on stage, unless someone is such an avid fan of a production that they know how every single line has to be said, then if you make a mistake it's only you (and maybe some of the other cast, but they won't comment on it) that will know.
When you realise that even if you do make minor mistakes, nobody will notice then it becomes easier to deal with the stage fright.
Would you rather slow dance or bump and grind?

You're reading How do you get over stage freight even though everyone thinks you are great at this activity? I'm just afraid I can't live up to the hype.
