There are many, most of them in Northern California. San Francisco alone has four, two in the Presidio. San Mateo County has Grey Whale Cove, San Gregorio State Beach, and Pomponio State Beach. Santa Cruz County did have some nude beaches, but Red, White, and Blue Beach is now closed, Bonny Doon Beach is no longer a nude beach, as is Four Mile Beach. Marin County also has several, with Black Sands Beach, between Pt. Diablo and Pt. Bonita considered the best. San Gregorio is the first nude beach in the USA, so designated in 1967. Baker Beach in San Francisco is the most popular due to its being in a tolerant city and the most accessible.
